Sepp Helfrich

Sepp Helfrich (* July 7, 1900 in Lugos , German  Lugosch , Kingdom of Hungary , Austria-Hungary , † January 27, 1963 in Graz ) was an Austrian National Socialist and brief governor of Styria.

Life

After attending the elementary schools in Weißkirchen (Serbian: Bela Crkva), Stein an der Donau and Göllersdorf , the secondary school in Stockerau and the secondary school in Graz , Sepp Helfrich did several months of military service in Italy in 1918. From 1921 he studied agronomy and construction at the Technical University in Graz and then at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences in Vienna . In 1926 he graduated as a graduate engineer. During his studies he became a member of the Association of German Students in Graz . In 1928 he joined the Agricultural Technical Service at the Provincial Governor of Graz .

In March 1937 he was arrested for Nazi activity. After the " Anschluss of Austria " he was immediately released and on March 12, 1938 he was appointed Governor of Styria . However, he only held this office for ten days. From 1938 Helfrich belonged to the National Socialist Reichstag .

Helfrich was arrested in 1945 because of his Nazi past. After his dismissal, he worked from 1949 to 1963 as an agricultural construction officer at the Styrian regional government in Graz.
