Erich Klusemann

Erich Klusemann (born May 4, 1867 in Buda ; † February 2, 1925 in Graz ) was an Austrian agricultural specialist and politician ( Landbund ).

Klusemann was born the son of a large industrialist and landowner. His ancestors came from a merchant family who had emigrated from the Ruhr area to the east in the 17th century . Klusemann's brother, Otto Klusemann , was a manufacturer and chemist. Klusemann grew up in Gmunden , where his family owned the Gmunden Castle. Klusemann studied agriculture at the University of Halle and from 1882 to 1883 at the University of Leipzig . In 1893 he received his doctorate as Dr. phil. After completing his studies, Klusemann acquired the Teichhof-Hart estate in Straßgang near Graz.

Erich Klusemann held various public functions in 1899. He was mayor of Eggenberg, chairman of the Graz-Umgebung district council and, from 1906, 1st vice-president of the kk Landwirtschaftsgesellschaft in Styria . In 1900 he co-founded the Association of Agricultural Cooperatives (today: Styrian Farmers' Association) and subsequently took on the role of deputy chairman of the supervisory board. In addition, Klusemann co-founded the liberal Styrian farmers' union, which later became the country union.

Klusemann was a member of the Styrian state parliament from 1919 and from May 27, 1919 to November 26, 1920, regional councilor in the Rintelen I state government . He also held the office of a board member of Agrarbank Graz, was vice-president of the Styrian state parliament and chairman of the state office for cattle traffic.
