The Raiffeisen-Landesbank Steiermark AG is an Austrian regional bank based in Graz . It is the largest bank in the Raiffeisen banking group Styria.

history

The first loan fund based on the Friedrich Wilhelm Raiffeisen system was established in 1886 in Lower Styria in Roßwein near Marburg . In 1894 a total of 19 loan offices were founded in Styria . In 1900 the "Association of Agricultural Cooperatives in Styria" was founded as a unified association of money and goods cooperatives. From 1903 this association also had the authority to audit the Raiffeisenkassen.

On April 7, 1927, under the impact of the global economic crisis, money and commodity cooperatives were separated. The “Regional Association of Styrian Raiffeisen Banks and Agricultural Cooperatives - Styrian Raiffeisen Association”, the predecessor of today's Raiffeisen-Landesbank Steiermark AG, was founded as a monetary, organizational and auditing association. The first company headquarters was in the house at Eisernes Tor No. 3. In 1935 the house at Kaiserfeldgasse 5 was acquired by the insolvent “Creditanstalt für Handel und Gewerbe”. A year later the company headquarters was relocated there.

In 1938 money and auditing were separated. The “Regional Association of the Styrian Raiffeisenkassen” was renamed “Raiffeisen-Zentralkasse Südmark” and was exclusively dedicated to money transactions. The “Association of Southern Mark Agricultural Cooperatives - Raiffeisen”, today's “Raiffeisen Association of Styria”, was founded as a revision association. In 1942 it was renamed “Raiffeisen-Zentralkasse Steiermark”. A year later, the “Steirische Bauernkasse”, founded in 1901 as the “Bauernvereinskasse für Mittel- und Obersteiermark in Graz”, merged with the Raiffeisen Central Bank Styria.

After the Second World War , the two institutes separated again in 1950, but the Steirische Bauernkasse remained closely tied to the Raiffeisen Central Bank Styria. In 1966 the Steirische Bauernkasse became the "Steirische Raiffeisenbank in Graz". In 1975, the Raiffeisen-Zentralkasse opened its first data center in Kaiserfeldgasse. A year later, the construction of another data center in Raaba began.

In 1989 it was renamed “Raiffeisenlandesbank Steiermark”. In 1998 she took over the banking business of the "Steirische Raiffeisenbank in Graz". Since then, Raiffeisenlandesbank has operated ten bank branches of its own, nine of which are in Graz and one in Frohnleiten . In the same year, Raiffeisenlandesbank Steiermark acquired 49% of Landes-Hypothekenbank Steiermark AG , making it the second largest owner of this bank after the state of Styria . In 2002 she increased her stake in Landes-Hypothekenbank to 75% fewer two shares. In 2005 the "Raiffeisenlandesbank Steiermark reg.Gen.mbH" was converted to "Raiffeisen-Landesbank Steiermark AG".

The branch in Raaba has gradually developed into a large location for the bank since it was expanded in 1993/94. In 2014, the Raiffeisen multifunctional center in Styria was set up here, with around 800 employees bringing together more expertise than ever in one place. The building is designed as the “heart of the Styrian Raiffeisen Association” and houses service units for all product and business areas, the Raiffeisen data center and the training and further education center.

In 2019 Raiffeisen-Landesbank Steiermark AG becomes 100% owner of Landes-Hypothekenbank Steiermark AG.
