tasks

The Raiffeisenlandesbank Vorarlberg is a regional bank for the Vorarlberg economy, but also for the independent Vorarlberg Raiffeisenbanks themselves. In accordance with the cooperative subsidiarity principle , the Raiffeisenlandesbank takes on tasks for the individual banks such as nationwide advertising and marketing measures, strategic support, services and much more. But it is also the statutory auditing association for all Vorarlberg Raiffeisen banks and other cooperatives based on the Raiffeisen system.

history

Severe flooding of the Rhine in 1888 caused poverty and famine in many Vorarlberg communities. The tragedy was the impetus for the establishment of the first savings and loan funds in Wolfurt and Lustenau in 1889 based on the principle of Friedrich Wilhelm Raiffeisen . In the years that followed, many other bank foundations followed and so on April 29, 1895 the "Association of Savings and Loan Banks in Vorarlberg" was established as the central bank and money settlement office between the individual banks with Johann Kohler as the first lawyer.

In 1898 the Vorarlberg Association became a co-founder of the General Austrian Raiffeisen Association in Vienna , which bears the gable cross as its company logo . As a result of the revision law that came into force, Raiffeisenlandesbank also carried out audits in the country from 1903 .

In 1910 it was decided to build a cooperative building on Bahnhofstrasse in Bregenz for the association. This remained the seat of the central bank until 1981 . The introduction and expansion of the Raiffeisen computer center, to which more and more regional banks were connected from 1975, also required a spatial expansion. In 1980 the Raiffeisenlandesbank Vorarlberg building in Bregenz Rheinstrasse was built. As part of the 100th anniversary in 1995, the association was renamed Raiffeisenlandesbank Vorarlberg.
