Wolfgang Erlitz
Wolfgang Erlitz (born February 15, 1950 in Frohnleiten , Styria ) is an Austrian politician of the SPÖ . He was a member of the Austrian Federal Council from 2005 to 2010 and its President from July 2007 to December 2007 .
education and profession
After primary school and secondary school in his hometown of Frohnleiten , Erlitz attended the music-pedagogical federal high school in Graz , where he graduated from high school in 1969 . After his military service , he began a teaching degree in mathematics and history at the University of Graz , which he completed in 1975 with a master's degree in natural sciences .
After completing his studies, Erlitz worked as a teacher at the Bundesgymnasium and the Bundesrealgymnasium in Leoben , and since 1977 as a professor. In 1991 he moved to the federal boarding school in Graz-Liebenau as deputy director , which he headed from 2001. Erlitz gave up this activity in 2003 when he was appointed to the Styrian state government . Erlitz has been Deputy President of the State School Council for Styria since May 1, 2013 .
Wolfgang Erlitz is married to Evelyn Erlitz-Lanegger and has one son. He lives in Frohnleiten.
Political offices
Erlitz has been a member of the Frohnleiten municipal council since 1980, and from 1985 as chairman of the culture committee. From 1989 to 1991 he was deputy mayor.
Erlitz moved into the Styrian state parliament in October 1991 and since 1996 has chaired the Committee on Health and Hospitals. He was a member of the state parliament until April 2003, before Waltraud Klasnic appointed him to the state council for health and hospitals as the successor to Günther Dörflinger . He held this office until the end of the legislative period in October 2005, before he was replaced by Helmut Hirt .
At the same Erlitz moved as representatives of Styria in the Federal one, whose president he has been as scheduled from July 2007 to December 2007. Erlitz resigned from the Federal Council on October 20, 2010.
Erlitz's political work focuses on education, research and health.
