Helmut Kritzinger (born August 15, 1928 in Sarnthein , South Tyrol ) is an Austrian politician (ÖVP). He is married and has six children. Kritzinger was regional chairman of the Tyrolean Seniors' Union from 1997 to 2019. He has also been the district chairman of the Innsbruck Seniors' Association since 1972.

Life

Kritzinger, who grew up in South Tyrol, was imprisoned by Italian security forces in 1961 for political reasons - "anti-national propaganda" was the charge. After almost eight months in the prisons of Bolzano and Trento , he was temporarily released on the condition that he could not leave his place of residence without a Carabinieri escort. As a result, he fled to Innsbruck because of the threat of re- arrest (after long interrogations) and immediately applied for a job there. At first Kritzinger worked briefly for the Tiroler Nachrichten, then he was asked by the governor to help establish the Tyrolean Pensioners 'Association (now the name has been changed to the Tyrolean Seniors' Association). From 1963 to 1977 he held the position of state secretary of the Tyrolean Seniors' Association. He supported the then regional chairman Georg Schärmer full-time. From 1972 he was district chairman of the senior citizens 'union in Innsbruck and from 1997 regional chairman of the Tyrolean senior citizens' union.

Kritzinger was a member of the Austrian Federal Council from 2002 to 2008 . He is also a member of the Tyrolean People's Party and was the first half of 2008, the President of the Federal Council after the Tyrolean Parliament his cabinet ministers is relegated had.

In Innsbruck, the Tyrolean Seniors' Association always ran independently in the municipal council elections. Kritzinger was therefore also active as a councilor in Innsbruck from 1983 to April 26, 2018. In the 2018 municipal council elections, the senior citizens' union won a mandate. The senior citizens' union entered the municipal council election with a new top candidate. The longstanding director of the airport, Reinhold Falch, was the new number one on the list, followed by Helmut Kritzinger. Thus, Kritzinger resigned as a councilor in this election.

In keeping with the motto “stay fit and healthy with the Tyrolean Seniors' Association”, the official celebration of Helmut Kritzinger's 90th birthday took place on August 25, 2018 in his home town of Sarnthein in South Tyrol. Numerous well-wishers from North and South Tyrol a. a. the former governors Luis Durnwalder and Herwig van Staa , ÖVP club chairman Jakob Wolf , LR Johannes Tratter , BR Klara Neurauter and VBM Franz X. Gruber attended the birthday party. At the beginning of the ceremony, Abbot Mag. German Erd held a service in the parish church Maria Himmelfahrt.

On September 5, 2011, Kritzinger received the Order of Merit of the Province of South Tyrol for his commitment to the causes of South Tyrol in Austria.

On March 2, 2019, Kritzinger informed the TSB regional management and later the press of his decision not to run for the new election in April as chairman of the Tyrolean Seniors' Association.

Helmut Kritzinger, long-term chairman and the epitome of senior representatives, presented his life's work to LR Patrizia Zoller-Frischauf on April 26, 2019 at the 16th Ordinary State Parliament of the Tyrolean Seniors' Association in the Innsbruck Exhibition Center . On this date, the senior citizens' association in Tyrol had more than 27,000 members in 255 local groups. Tyrolean VP regional party chairman LH Günther Platter praised Kritzinger's achievements in detail in his speech at the regional parliament : “The success story of the Tyrolean Seniors' Association is inextricably linked with the decades-long, courageous commitment of Helmut Kritzinger. Helmut, your services to the Tyrolean seniors are immeasurable. With the Senior Citizens Association, you have built a lively community that is active, gives support and offers many people a home.
