Viktor Elser

Viktor Elser (born April 18, 1893 in Oberzeiring ; † August 18, 1979 in Graz ) was an Austrian politician ( SDAP or later KPÖ ).

Life

Elser attended elementary and technical school and then learned to be a beer brewer . From 1914 to 1918 he was committed to military service in the First World War and was then employed from 1919 to 1934 as a secretary of the metal and miners' union. Elser was an innkeeper from 1937 to 1942.

From 1924 to 1934 Elser was Vice Mayor of Köflach in western Styria and from 1926 a member of the Styrian Landtag for the Social Democratic Workers' Party in German-Austria . After the SDAP was banned, Elser lost his offices and was taken into political custody, with a high treason trial against him in Graz. In 1938 Elser joined the KPÖ. After the Second World War Elser took over on 20 May 1945 to 28 December 1945, the Office of the Governor -Stellvertreters in Styria , after he was December 19, 1945 to June 8, 1956 deputy of the CPA to the National Council, where he served as Expert in social policy and social insurance appeared.
