Günter Dörflinger

Günter Dörflinger (born March 22, 1957 in Graz ) is a former Austrian journalist and politician of the Social Democratic Party of Austria (SPÖ), who was regional councilor in the Styrian regional government between 1996 and 2003 .

Life

Günter Dörflinger attended elementary and secondary school in Neumarkt in Styria and then the grammar school in Graz, where he obtained his Matura in 1976 . He was involved as head of school, state and national school spokesman and, after graduating from high school in 1976, began studying journalism at the University of Graz . During his studies, he made several stays abroad in Central America , the USA , the Middle East and North Africa . He financed his studies by working as a shoe seller and as a temporary waiter. He joined the Social Democratic Party of Austria (SPÖ) and was youth secretary and organizational secretary at the SPÖ Vienna between 1979 and 1981 and youth officer in the SPÖ Styria from 1981 to 1984. As a journalist he worked for the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation (ORF), for the daily newspaper Neue Zeit , which is published in Graz, and as a local reporter for the daily newspaper Kleine Zeitung . After working for the mayor's office in Graz between 1984 and 1989, he was regional manager of the Styrian SPÖ from 1990 to 1996.

Dörflinger became a member of the Styrian Landtag for the first time on October 18, 1991 , to which he was a member until January 12, 1996. On 23 January 1996 he joined the Government of Styria and was between 23 January 1996 and 8 April 2003 National Council of the hospital and health care and youth in the State Government Klasnic I and in the State Government Klasnic II . Ursula Lackner and Markus Zelisko were among his employees during his tenure as regional councilor . During his tenure, his lifestyle was criticized.

In April 2003, after leaving the provincial government, Dörfinger became director of the Steirische Gas -Wärme GmbH network and systems for district heating, sales, marketing, corporate strategy, personnel management and investment management in Germany and in July 2007 spokesman for the board. Alongside Johann Christof, he was a member of the executive committee of the SV Bad Aussee sports club . In August 2008 he moved to the plant and mechanical engineering company Christof Industries as chairman of the supervisory board of Christof Holding AG , where he has been a board member of Christof Holding AG since September 2009 with responsibility for marketing, advertising & communication, human resources, organization, shared services, and renewable energies and revision. In 2015 he became Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Christof Industries . The Austrian industry magazine puts him 61st out of the 1,000 most important industrial managers in Austria. Since 2017 he has also been chairman of the supervisory board of the Steiermärkische Krankenanstaltengesellschaft (KAGes).
