Georg Gaß (born March 24, 1878 in Drösing , † September 20, 1944 in Vienna ) was an Austrian veterinarian, publicist, fiction writer and politician.

Life

Gaß was born as the son of the farmer, master baker and mayor of Drösing , Georg Gaß, and his wife Annemarie, née Schweinberger. Gaß attended grammar school and the veterinary college in Vienna, entered the public service in 1902 and worked as a veterinarian in Saaz , Vienna , Cilli and Windischgrätz . He did his military service as a Landsturm veterinarian and became divisional chief veterinarian.

On May 21, 1927, Gaß resigned from the state government and became state veterinary director for Styria. He was also president of the Graz Trotting Club, the Association of Austrian Provincial Trotting Clubs and the Styrian Animal Welfare Society.

Gaß married his wife Bertha, née Sauer, in 1908, with whom he had two sons (* 1911 and 1914) and a daughter (* 1913).

politics

Gaß was a member of the Styrian state parliament from 1918 to 1934 and from November 26, 1920 also belonged to the Styrian state government. He was a member of the state governments of Rintelen II and III as well as a state councilor in the state governments of Prisching and Gürtler .
