Jayney Klimek
Jayney Miriam Klimek (born August 18, 1962 in Melbourne ) is an Australian singer and songwriter who has lived in Berlin since 1984 .
family
The mother Luisa Cester was a daughter of the married couple Eugenia and Ernesto Cester and was born on January 29, 1919 in Pasiano di Pordenone . In mid-1940 she left northern Italy for Australia. After the war ended , she married Alfons Klimek and gave birth to eight children. Her younger sister Fanny Cester (1921–1988) was an opera singer and married the cyclist Nino Borsari (1911–1996) in 1940 .
Jayney is the twin sister of Johnny Klimek and the sister of Alf Klimek . She is also a second cousin of the brothers Nic and Chris Cester of Jet .
Musical career
Jayney Klimek studied classical singing and acting at the National Theater in Melbourne and then at the John Gauci School of Film . Her musical career began in 1985 when she joined The Other Ones , with whom she had several chart successes.
From then on she sang on numerous albums and concerts by musicians such as Tony Banks , Tangerine Dream , Paul van Dyk , Alphaville and Terranova .
In 2005 she founded a new band, You Pretty Thing , with guitarist and producer Andreas Schwarz-Ruszczynski, who had previously also worked for The Other Ones .
For her solo album “Awake”, released in 2014, which was recorded and produced in Berlin and London, she worked with Gareth Jones ( Depeche Mode , Erasure , Einstürzende Neubauten ), among others .
Movie
In 2016 Jayney Klimek made her acting debut in the Austrian movie Hotel Rock´n´Roll .
