Alf Klimek

Alfons "Alf" Joseph Klimek , also known by the stage name Alf Klimax , (born February 3, 1956 in Melbourne , Victoria ) is an Australian musician , pop singer and composer . He is the father of Scarlet Klimek .

Life

The mother Luisa Cester was a daughter of the married couple Eugenia and Ernesto Cester and was born on January 29, 1919 in Pasiano di Pordenone . In mid-1940 she left northern Italy for Australia. After the war ended , she married Alfons Klimek and gave birth to eight children. Her younger sister Fanny Cester (1921–1988) was an opera singer and married the cyclist Nino Borsari (1911–1996) in 1940 . The musicians Nic (* 1979) and his brother Chris Cester (* 1981), founder of the rock band Jet , are the sons of John Cester (1959–1996) and related to the Klimek siblings.

Alf is the older brother of twins Jayney and Johnny Klimek , who were born in Melbourne on August 18, 1962. In June 1977 he joined the puppet theater Stuffed Puppet under the direction of Neville Tranters and worked as a marionette and puppeteer and screenwriter . In 1978 he traveled to Amsterdam with the puppet theater , took part in the Festival of Fools , switched to the Busby Berkeley Road Show cabaret in 1979 and toured Europe and New York . He then joined the Nina Hagen Band in West Berlin and founded the rock group Spliff in 1980 as singer Alf Klimax with Herwig Mitteregger , Bernhard Potschka and Manfred Praeker .

He traveled to Australia, came back to Berlin in 1983 with his sister Jayney and brother Johnny, where they founded the pop band The Other Ones with Uwe Hoffmann , Stephan Gottwald and Andreas Schwarz-Ruszczynski . Her third single, Holiday, was the summer hit of 1987.

Alf Klimek left the pop band in 1990, traveled between Berlin and Melbourne and founded his own rock studio Birdland in Australia with Lindsay Gravina and worked for several years preparing musicals . In 1998 he accepted Klaus Baumgart's offer and worked on the radio play version of the children 's book series Lauras Stern , in which daughter Scarlet also sang in 1999 .
