The Base is a three-piece Austrian indie rock band from Graz .

history

The Graz trio The Base formed in 1989 from the rubble of the secondary school band Carello Kocmoc. The founding members were Norbert Wally (born May 16, 1970 in Graz ), Karlheinz Miklin jun . (Born January 15, 1971 in Klagenfurt ) and Heinz Nussbaumer . It was only with the 4-track debut Jet Crash Kills (1996) that the band achieved nationwide fame and airplay on national radio stations. The first long player Ducks and Diners with eleven songs was released in 1999.

In 2002 Heinz Nussbaumer left the band and Albrecht Klinger (born February 1, 1965 in Linz ) started as a bassist. In December 2002, a live recording of Toasted @ TiB followed , which was recorded during a performance in the Graz theater in the train station and sold 15 minutes after the concert. In the same year the “Gunter Falk Gala” was staged in Graz and Vienna in collaboration with the theater director Hubsi Kramar . In 2003, The Base recorded Sunday Morning Rituals . At the beginning of 2006, Things To Remember / Ways To Forget followed, a double album that combines a CD with quiet and one with harder songs.

After the release of the best-of album 15 for the Jukebox , numerous live concerts (including in London, as well as opening act for the American indie folk band Firewater and with Element of Crime ), The Base released 16 songs in Self Defense in 2009 , which earned The Base massive airplay and a Top 5 nomination for the Amadeus Awards . Tested Under Extreme Conditions was released in February 2011 and Secret Second Thoughts' most successful album to date in February 2013 . Where Is My Weather will follow in March 2015 .
