The Woman with a Shoe is an Austrian television film from the country crime film series from 2014 by Michael Glawogger with Nina Proll , Karl Fischer and Edita Malovčić in the leading roles. The premiere took place in March 2014 on the Diagonale , the film was first broadcast on ORF on December 18, 2014. The film was shown on ZDF on June 24, 2018.

action

A human scalp is found in a gravel pond , and on a chicken farm, the chickens are chopping on a severed hand. The headquarters in Wiener Neustadt found that the body parts came from the same woman, but her identity is initially unclear. While the tough, under-challenged inspector Franzi, who is willing to be relocated, is happy to finally have a real case, her colleague Michael, called "Michi", is more of a cozy kind. For him the real criminals are banks and insurance companies, he would rather have his peace and quiet.

Since the escape of a female prisoner from the nearby Schwarzau prison a year ago, hardly anything has happened in the area. A lonely and somewhat confused elderly lady claims to have observed a young hitchhiker getting into a blue station wagon. The only vehicle of this type in the area belongs to the somewhat dodgy-looking mechanic and workshop owner Gerry. He had a passionate marriage to his attractive wife Silvia, and he gave the car to his customers as a replacement while he worked on their vehicles. Franzi suspects that the body parts are related to the outbreak a year ago, after which mechanic Gerry was also suspected. However, a DNS check shows no match.

production

The shooting took place from July 15 to August 13, 2013, and the shooting took place in Lower Austria in the industrial district . Filming locations included Pitten , Wiener Neustadt , Schwarzau am Steinfeld , Bad Erlach , Baden , Bad Fischau , Lanzenkirchen and Linz . The film was produced by Lotus Film , the Austrian Broadcasting Corporation was involved , and the production was supported by the Austrian TV Fund and the Province of Lower Austria .

The music comes from Norbert Wally and his band The Base from Graz . Martina List was responsible for the costume design, Dietmar Zuson for the sound , Maria Gruber for the production design and Michaela Payer for the makeup.

reception

In Austria, 711,000 viewers followed the film when it was first broadcast on ORF. On ZDF , 4.20 million people saw the film when it was first broadcast; the market share was 12.2 percent.

Tilmann P. Gangloff from tittelbach.tv said that this film, which, in contrast to co-productions with German television, was originally only made for an Austrian audience, would sound that way. ZDF had somewhat defused the film acoustically, but many viewers would still have difficulties following all the dialogues. The story would work that way, though. “The crime thriller was the last completed work by director Michael Glawogger, who won several awards for his documentaries and whose feature films were regularly a bit weird. In his country thriller, too, the bizarre secondary characters tend to push the actual plot into the background. "

Hans Czerny found in the Weser-Kurier that the film would convince less through its local color than through the proximity to its characters. "Stunning Karl Fischer as a policeman with bilious black humor or Robert Palfrader as a constantly boiling unemployed person in a charming row house."
