action

In the middle of the night, Salzburg inspector Martin Merana is woken up by the ringing of his telephone, his spiritually gifted grandmother Kristina believes that something terrible must have happened. The next day in Krimml , where Merana grew up and his grandmother lives, the body of a 15-year-old is found near the Krimml Waterfalls . Merana had left the place of his childhood and has since avoided it after having had bad experiences there in his childhood. The victim is Laura Striegler that before the local preliminaries of a day camp followers had won -Misswahl. At first there are some indications of a suicide, but a heart-shaped stone is found that someone must have placed in the hands of the dead. The murder case is reminiscent of the legend of the eponymous "Dragon Maiden".

Together with the post commander Franziska Heilmayr, Merana goes in search of clues and traces. There are many suspects, some wanted to be close to Laura or even go to her laundry. Laura herself didn't like the contest organized by a regional broadcaster, she felt harassed by the local men, especially by Mayor Erlinger, the inventor of the competition. Merana, who was once in a relationship with Laura's mother Alma and now considers it possible to be her father, is viewing a video recording of the event in order to limit the number of suspects. The suspects include Erlinger, who has an alibi, and Laura's stepfather (Merana's archenemy from childhood), Heilmayr's colleague Ankerl, a kicked-out candidate, and Laura's friend, who was disappointed about the appearance at the vote.

Laura's mother, Laura had urged to participate in the competition, Merana finally reveals the truth that Laura before their eyes suicide committed by plunged into the waterfall. The desperate mother put the stone lying on the bank into her dead daughter's hands.
