action

Roli and Ferdinand once worked together in a security company. In the meantime, they earn their living as modern highwaymen by cashing in at night with forged ID cards as fake police officers on Vienna's Höhenstrasse for crimes such as speeding, drugs, sex in the parking lot and drunk driving.

An interrogation of a young black African, the refugee Uku, and his Austrian friend Robert while drunk at a late hour leads to an unplanned arrest. Roli and Ferdinand take the two men with them to extort ransom from their family.

Everyone tries to cheat everyone, in the end Uku is dead and Roberts sister makes off with the ransom alone.

reception

In Austria, 673,000 viewers followed the film when it was first broadcast on ORF . On ZDF , the film was seen by 2.49 million people when it was first broadcast, with a market share of 9.3 percent.

Isabella Wallnöfer found in the daily newspaper Die Presse that the black humor of Braunschlag and Altes Geld would sound familiar. Instead of a classic crime thriller, Schalko has delivered a milieu study that exposes two worlds in all their wretchedness. Schalko would do what he is particularly good at: to talk about disturbed people and sick relationships and let you rub your hands with a smile and glee.

“With Höhenstraße, David Schalko has again achieved a masterpiece of Austrian abyssal research. The film is to shoot, to be amazed and also to swallow, because politically absolutely incorrect. ”- Christine Dössel | Southgerman newspaper

Höhenstraße or the Austrian can also be very funny - when his name is David Schalko. And Nicholas Ofczarek plays. “- Joachim Huber | Daily mirror

"Grandiose country thriller" - Frank Jürgens | Osnabrück newspaper
