The Prix ​​Europa is the largest tri-media festival in Europe and a competition for television, radio and online productions. It was founded in 1987 in West Berlin and is hosted by Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg . In 1997 the festival merged with the Prix ​​Futura Berlin . The prize has been awarded in Potsdam since 2018 .

The festival is supported by the European Commission , the European Parliament , the European Broadcasting Union (EBU / UER) and the European Alliance for Television and Culture (EATC). There are also the states of Berlin and Brandenburg as well as 25 other partners from the media sector, including RBB, Medienanstalt Berlin-Brandenburg (mabb), medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg, ARTE and ZDF . The annual festival with its open jury groups has around 1000 participants and takes place in October. The aim is to present the spectrum of European productions under the trademark “Made in Europe”, to make cross-border program trends recognizable and to give quality programs a forum.

Price categories

In the television sector, the competition is held in the categories Documentary , Drama , Current Affairs Program , Fiction Serial or Mini-Series , Intercultural Program and in radio in the categories Documentary , Investigation , Fiction Series or Serial , Drama and Music Program . The online category has also existed since 2001. In addition, the Prix ​​Geneve for the most innovative screenplay by a newcomer and the Lifetime Achievement Award will be given.

The prizes for the best European television, radio and Internet programs are not endowed and will be awarded at a prize gala at the end of the festival week.
