Military ranks, special ranks and civil ranks of the Russian Federation describes the official hierarchy of the armed forces, the law enforcement, the prosecution service, the general procuratorate and the general state administration of the Russian Federation.

Military ranks

Military ranks of the Russian Federation are of two types, army-like ranks and ship-like ranks.

Army-like ranks

Similar army ranks are of soldiers of the following branches of the armed forces , weapons classes , branch has carried and Federal Service:

Ministry of Defense

Ministry of Civil Protection

  • Military rescue forces
  • Soldiers of the State Fire Service

Federal service of the National Guard troops

  • National Guard troops

Soldiers of the guard troops carry the ranks with the prefix "Guard", for example "Guard major". Soldiers of the judicial service and the medical service carry the ranks with the words "of the justice" and "of the medical service" added.

Ship-like ranks are from soldiers of the following branches of the armed forces and types of service :

  • Naval units of the National Guard troops

Special ranks

Special ranks of the Russian Federation are of four types, ranks of the police, the judiciary, the domestic service and the customs service.

Police ranks

Police ranks are held by officers of the Russian Police .

Ranks of the judiciary

The ranks of the judiciary are held by officials of the following bodies:

  • Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation
  • Ministry of Interior Investigation Service

Ranks of internal service

The ranks of the internal service are held by officials of the following bodies:

  • Rear Service , Financial Service, Personnel Service, Administrative Service and Medical Service of the Ministry of Interior
  • Disaster Protection Ministry (except soldiers from the military rescue forces and soldiers in the state fire service)
  • Federal Prison Service in the Ministry of Justice
  • Federal Service of the National Guard Troops of the Russian Federation (except soldiers of the National Guard Troops of the Russian Federation)
  • Officials of the Ministry of the Interior who are seconded to the State Military Police Service

The ranks of the customs service are carried by officials of the federal customs service.
