The air and space forces ( Russian Воздушно-космические силы [ВКС] ) of the Russian armed forces consist of the air force and the space forces .

The armed forces were founded on August 1, 2015 and were commanded by Colonel General Viktor Bondarev until 2017 . His successor is his deputy Pavel Kuratschenko.
