The Engelandvaarders Museum at Bosweg 15 in Noordwijk was opened on September 4th, 2015 by King Willem-Alexander . It is located in a former German ammunition bunker belonging to the Noordwijk coastal battery from the Second World War.

The “ Engelandvaarders ” ( German English  drivers ) were people who tried to flee the Netherlands by sea, air or land during the occupation of the Second World War in order to take part in the fight against Germany and Japan on the side of England. Of the approximately 2500 refugees, 1700 reached England.

The exhibition uses objects and audio-visual displays to explain the escape routes used and goes into the further life of the British drivers in the Allied Air Force, Navy, in the Princess Irene Brigade and in the Allied secret services. B. at the England game .
