Wolfgang Huebsch

Wolfgang Hübsch (born November 12, 1939 in Steyr - Münichholz ) is an Austrian actor .

Life

The son of a master carpenter attended the technical school for wood processing in Hallstatt and worked as a carpenter for several years. He then completed an acting course at the Salzburg Mozarteum . After starting out at the Salzburg State Theater, Hübsch played his first major roles in Klagenfurt . In 1966 he came to the Vienna Volkstheater . There he played u. a. in Nestroy's On Ground Floor and First Floor , Oedipus in Jean Cocteau's The Devilish Machine , Colonel Redl in John Osborne's A Patriot , Martin Schalanter in Ludwig Anzengruber's The Fourth Commandment and Raskolnikoff in Dostoyevsky's Guilt and Atonement with Helmut Qualtinger as examining magistrate; all roles directed by Gustav Manker .

From 1970 to 1972, Wolfgang Hübsch was at the Munich Residenztheater , from which Gerhard Klingenberg brought him to the Vienna Burgtheater , where he experienced his zenith as a castle actor for 19 years and in more than 50 roles - including around 20 leading roles. He played roles such as Orest, Egmont, Amphitryon and in plays by Arthur Schnitzler . Wolfgang Hübsch left the castle two years after Peymann took office and has been working as a freelance actor ever since.
