A Risky Game is a German drama by director Johannes Fabrick from 2008. The television film was produced for ZDF and Arte . Wotan Wilke Möhring and Tim Bergmann play the two main roles. A man's friendship is put to the test by serious illness.
action
The unsuccessful architect Markus terminates his health insurance in order to be able to keep afloat financially. But then he gets into a situation in which he could have used her. His health is deteriorating. His friend Andreas, a financially well-off family man, lends him his health insurance chip card without realizing the severity of the illness. Markus' diagnosis is blood cancer. The drug co-payments are increasingly a financial burden on Markus. He stops taking the medication. Andreas begs him to continue the therapy, also out of responsibility for his 9-year-old son Lukas.
Andreas calls in sick in his company to be a support to his friend during the difficult times. Since the drug therapy was unsuccessful, a bone marrow transplant is supposed to save Markus' life. Andreas' frequent absence through hospital visits and his obvious dejection make his wife Franziska suspicious. That's why he lets them know about insurance fraud. After a brief inner marital dispute, she supports the decision.
Even after the transplant, Markus cannot beat cancer. His death leads to the discovery of the fraud. Andreas has to answer in court. Unselfishness, a good social prognosis and his confession reduce the sentence to 18 months' probation.
