Lotus movie

The Lotus-Film GmbH is an Austrian film production company based in Vienna . The company was founded in 1982 by Erich Lackner . The focus of activity was initially the production of adventure and outdoor sports films. In the 1990s, the focus shifted to the production of documentaries, feature films and arthouse films for the cinema.

history

Lotus Film achieved great success in 1999 with Barbara Albert's debut film Nordrand, which has won several international awards, about the dreams and fates of young immigrants on the outskirts of Vienna. Ulrich Seidl's early works , such as With loss is to be expected (1992) and Animal Love (1995), were also produced by Lotus Film. Michael Glawogger's documentary Workingman's Death (2005), which was awarded the German Film Prize for best documentary film in 2007 , and Glawogger's more recent production, the feature film Slumming (2007) , also received international attention .

In 2010, Peter Wirthensohn and Tommy Pridnig took over Lotus Film from founder Erich Lackner, of which they have been managing partners ever since.
