action

The focus of the action are the three former friends Gerti Bruckner, Franz Aigner and Jonas Lipansky from the 21st Viennese district of Floridsdorf , who had lost sight of each other over the years and happened to meet again after forty years.

Gerti Bruckner has been married to Herbert for 32 years. She became a criminal investigator and is very committed to her profession, which she is hardly thanked for. The young Heidi Mai is put in front of her, who thinks she knows everything better. Franz Aigner was originally supposed to take over his father's funeral home, but then ran a discotheque and later a number of brothels. He's also past his prime, only one of his bars is over. Jonas Lipansky is officially a watchmaker, but actually works as a contract killer . He is put under pressure by his client after he is supposed to liquidate his old friend Franz, but Jonas hesitates.

The three protagonists are shown in retrospect at the age of sixteen, in 1978 on the day of the international soccer match between the German and Austrian national teams as part of the 1978 World Cup in Cordoba .

The corpse of the prostitute Chanelle, who had worked as a dominatrix in Franz's restaurant, is discovered by chance at a funeral when one of the pallbearers stumbles, the coffin lid opens and two corpses appear inside instead of just one. In this case, Gerti determines what leads her to Franz, who in turn is being observed by Jonas.

Jonas' client is slowly getting restless after he has still not liquidated Franz and is now putting her own people on the three friends Franz, Gerti and Jonas. Jonas liquidates the two killers of his client in Franz's villa. Then Franz tells Jonas how Chanelle died: After Christiane Hörbiger's reading in Franz's nightclub, she misses Loriot, one of her two pugs . Chanelle catches the slave as she feeds the two dogs chocolate. Thereupon there is a dispute between Mrs. Hörbiger and Chanelle, Chanelle hits the back of the head and is killed.

Jonas' client subsequently tries to kill Gerti as an accomplice. In her apartment in a skyscraper, Gerti leans out of the window, the anchoring of the railing loosing. Gerti falls over several floors and falls exactly on Jonas' client, who dies in the process. Gerti survived the fall and is looked after by Jonas and Franz.
