NGC 3407 is an elliptical galaxy of Hubble type E / S0 in the constellation Ursa Major at the northern sky . It is estimated to be 229 million light years from the Milky Way and about 95,000 light years in diameter.
In the same area of the sky is u. a. the galaxy NGC 3435 .
The object was discovered on April 9, 1793 by Wilhelm Herschel .
