NGC 3424 is a bar-spiral galaxy with extensive star formation areas of the Hubble type SBb in the constellation Little Leo in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 66 million light years from the Milky Way and about 50,000 light years in diameter.
Together with NGC 3413 and NGC 3430 , it forms the galaxy trio Holm 218 . She is a member of the eleven galaxies counting NGC 3396 group ( LGG 218 ). In the same area of ​​the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 3396 IC 2608 , IC 2612 , IC 2613 .
