IC 2612 is an elliptical galaxy with an active nucleus of the Hubble type E / S0 in the constellation Little Leo in the northern sky . It is estimated to be 599 million light years from the Milky Way and about 70,000 light years in diameter.
The galaxies NGC 3413 , NGC 3424 , NGC 3430 , IC 2608 are located in the same area of the sky .
The object was discovered on May 7, 1896 by Stéphane Javelle .
