Johannes Silberschneider (born December 13, 1958 in Mautern , Styria ) is an Austrian actor . He has worked in theaters in Germany , Austria and Switzerland and has appeared in over 100 television productions and movies.

Life

Silberschneider attended the music and educational secondary school in Eisenerz . There he had appearances with the school's own theater group and as a singer in the band Johnny Silver & his Clappers . After graduating in 1978, he studied acting at the Max Reinhardt Seminar .

In 2002, the short film Copy Shop of Virgil Widrich , played the leading role in the John Silberschneider, for the Oscar as Best Short Film nomination.

Furthermore, John Silberschneider played from September 24th, 2011 at the Schauspielhaus Graz the lead role in the premiere of Ghosts in Princeton - a play from the pen of Daniel Kehlmann . For this role he was nominated for the Nestroy Theater Prize in 2012 in the Best Actor category. In 2012 Johannes Silberschneider was awarded the Great Diagonale Acting Prize. Since summer 2013 he has been on stage as a poor neighbor in the Jedermann production at the Salzburg Festival . In Daniel Glattauer's play “The Wonder Exercise” , Silberschneider was seen from February 2017 to May 2019 at the side of Margarethe Tiesel and Franz Solar at the Graz Schauspielhaus.

Silberschneider lives with his partner, the actress Barbara de Koy , in Munich.
