action
The wealthy Birgit Amberg finances a car salon for her husband Frederik. Ilona Weber is his lover and has learned to tolerate and hate her unemployed husband Jürgen over the years. When Birgit discovers Frederik's relationship, she goes crazy and pushes her husband out the window. At the same time, Ilona Weber involved her husband in a fatal accident and hit the road . While the police are investigating both cases, the two women get to know each other in an unusual way and agree to give each other an alibi. Birgit confesses to having caused the accident with Jürgen Weber, in the hope that she will not be held responsible for her husband's fall from the window, who is slowly recovering from his injuries in the hospital. When Freddy's condition permits an interrogation, he is questioned as a witness about the accident. Although he can remember what happened, he takes his wife Birgit under protection and claims to have lost her balance due to his alcohol consumption.
Birgit is sentenced to seven months' probation in the Jürgen Weber case because of the hit-and-run and hopes to start over with a refined Freddy. But Freddy is returning to his old behavior. He asks Birgit for account authorization and cheats on him. Birgit surprises her husband at a shepherd's hour with his physiotherapist and angrily pushes him out the window again. The doctors are now ruling out a full recovery; Freddy will remain in a wheelchair. Birgit takes revenge on her unfaithful husband by starting an affair with the attractive criminal police officer Daniel Czerny, who was working on her case at the time and has always felt sympathy for her.

criticism
“An accident for two - admittedly badly constructed. But the ZDF television film "Böses Erwachen" is still entertaining like few German comedies. That is probably because he is actually an Austrian. [...] Director Urs Egger and his screenwriter do not shy away from any stereotype, and also like to take the flat punchlines with them. And completely relies on his ensemble, which brings the story, which is actually twisted to life, to life. […] The scenes in which he is not paralyzed in the intensive care unit are given by Ochsenknecht to Frederik in a rather funny way. […] At its core, the TV movie lives from the two killers Birgit and Ilona, who portray Lisa Martinek and Nina Proll in a very entertaining way. A direct duel between high and low culture. "
