Çavdarhisar is a city and capital of the district of the same name in the Turkish province of Kütahya . The city is located about 40 kilometers southwest of the provincial capital Kütahya (57 kilometers by road).

The district is located in the center of the province. It borders on Gediz County in the south and southwest , Emet County in the north and Aslanapa County in the east . The district town is on the D240 highway , which runs from Bergama on the Aegean coast to Kütahya. The river Bedir Çayı , the ancient Penkalas , a left tributary of the Kocaçay flows through the village . It is dammed southwest of the city by the Çavdarhisar dam .

The district was formed in 1990 from the southeastern part of the Emet district (parts of the Bucak Örencik ). The community (since 1967) Çavdarhisar had a population of 2,539 in the last census before the change of area (1985).

At the end of 2018, the Çavdarhisar district included the district town and 23 villages ( Köy ) with an average of 203 residents. The range of the population ranged from 584 ( Yenicearmutcuk ) down to 50 ( Efendiköprüsü ). Nine villages had more than 203 inhabitants. The population density was below the provincial average (15.9 - 49.7 inhabitants per km²).

Attractions

In Çavdarhisar and west of the city are the ruins of ancient Aizanoi . These include the Temple of Zeus, a combination of stadium and theater, a bath and the Penkalas Bridge .
