Tavşanlı is a city and a district in the Turkish province of Kütahya . The city is located about 45 kilometers northwest of the provincial capital Kütahya . The current name is based on the originally Persian name Harguş ("hare"). However, the Turkish variant has been traceable since the 14th century.

The district is located in the northwest of the province. It borders in the east with the central district, in the southeast with the Aslanapa district , in the south with the districts Emet and Simav , in the west with the province Balıkesir , in the north-west with the province Bursa , in the north with the district Domaniç and in the northeast with the Province Bilecik .

In Tavşanlı, the D595 trunk roads cross, which leads north from Simav past İznik Gölü to the Gulf of İzmit in the Sea of ​​Marmara , and the D230 from Edremit on the Aegean Sea to Kütahya.
