Mustafa Kalemli

Mustafa Kalemli (born March 26, 1943 in Tavşanlı , Kütahya ) is a Turkish doctor and politician.

Kalemli attended elementary and middle school in his hometown and high school in Eskişehir. This was followed by a medical degree at Ankara University , which he completed in 1967. After completing his studies, he practiced as a doctor in a hospital of the Social Insurance Institute and worked as a research assistant at the Department of Urology. In 1972 he became a specialist in urology. In the same year he did his military service as chief physician of the urology department of the Ankara Military Hospital. Between 1976 and 1978 Kalemli worked in the Ministry of Health. In 1978 he became a lecturer and helped found the medical faculty at Akdeniz Üniversitesi . Kalemli was President of the Department of Urology and a member of the University Board of Akdeniz Üniversitesi. He was also the founding senior physician of the SSK-Tavşanlı Hospital. In 1983 Kalemli was the director of the Urology Hospital in Buca .

In the parliamentary elections of November 6, 1983 Kalemli was elected for the Anavatan Partisi ( ANAP ) as a member of the Kutahya Province in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey . Between 1983 and 1986 he was Minister for Labor and Social Security. Between 1986 and 1987 Kalemli was Minister of Health and Social Aid. After he was elected for the second time as a member of the Kutahya Province in 1987, he was appointed Minister of the Interior.

After he resigned from this office, Kalemli became a member of the Turkish parliamentary group of the Council of Europe's Deputies . Later he was a member and deputy president of the parliamentary commission for foreign affairs.

On June 24, 1991, Kalemli became Minister of the Interior for the second time in the Yılmaz government. On August 26, 1991 he became Minister for the newly established Ministry of Forests. He was re-elected in the 1995 parliamentary elections and was President of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey between 1996 and 1997.

Kalemli was a member of the Kütahya Province in the 17th, 18th, 19th and 20th legislative periods.

He is married and has two children.
