Ömer İzgi

Ömer İzgi (* 1940 in Doğanhisar , Konya ) is a Turkish lawyer and politician.

İzgi graduated from the Faculty of Law at Ankara University . In 1983 he was a founding member of the Muhafazakâr Parti (MP) ( Conservative Party ). The party renamed itself Milliyetçi Çalışma Partisi (MÇP) on November 30th . İzgi became deputy general secretary. On January 24, 1993 the party called itself at its congress in Milliyetçi Hareket Partisi (MHP). İzgi became party chairman for Ankara province and later deputy party chairman.

In the elections to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey on April 18, 1999, he was elected member of the Konya Province . İzgi was chairman of the MHP parliamentary group for a while. Between 2000 and 2002 he was President of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey.

Ömer İzgi is married and has four children.

İzgi received an honorary doctorate from Baku State University . as well as the Ahmet Yesevi Üniversitesi in Kazakhstan .

İzgi received the golden state medal from Colombia .
