Refik Koraltan (* 1890 in Divriği , Ottoman Empire , † June 17, 1974 in Istanbul ) was a Turkish bureaucrat and politician. Koraltan graduated from the Faculty of Law at Darülfünun in 1914 and began to work as a civil servant. He worked as a public prosecutor and police chief. Koraltan worked for the Kuvayı Milliye in Konya during the Turkish Liberation War and was elected Konya's member of the Turkish Grand National Assembly. He was a member of parliament without interruption until 1935. Koraltan was 1936-1938 Governor Artvins , from 1938 to 1939 Governor of Trabzon and 1939-1942 Governor of Bursa . In 1942 he was elected MP for the Bursa Province. Refik Koraltan is one of the four founders of the Democrat Parti, which was founded in 1946 . In the parliamentary elections on May 14, 1950, he was elected Member of the Democratic Party and on May 22, 1950 President of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey. He remained in this position until the National Unity Committee struck a coup on May 27, 1960 and he was indicted and convicted in the Yassıada trials . Koraltan was later pardoned and withdrew from political life.
