Cahit Karakaş

Cahit Karakaş (* 1928 in Bartın ) is a Turkish politician.

Karakaş graduated from the Faculty of Construction at İstanbul Teknik Üniversitesi in 1952 . He received his doctorate in 1961 at the chair for hydraulic engineering and water economics at the Technical University of Berlin . After returning to Turkey , he worked in various positions in the Ministry of Infrastructure.

In 1965 he became a deputy for the province of Zonguldak in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey elected. Karakaş was Minister of Infrastructure and Transport in the 1st government of Nihat Erim . On November 17, 1977 he was elected President of the Grand National Assembly. In the parliamentary elections of 1983, Karakaş was re-elected to parliament.
