Kütahya , also Kytachia ( ancient Greek Κοτυάειον Kotiaeion or Κοτύαιον Kotiaion , Latin Cotyaeium , Cotyaeum and Cotyaium ), is the capital of the Turkish province of the same name in Asia Minor . At the same time, it is the center of the surrounding district (Merkez).
geography
The city of Kütahya and the central district are located in the northeast of the province of the same name. The city is about 200 km from Istanbul, about 250 km from Ankara, about 270 km from Izmir and about 300 km from Antalya. The city is located on the D230 and D650 highways, has rail connections and an airport .
district
The central district, which is directly subordinate to the Vali (governor), has another Belediye (municipality) with Seyitömer (1,962 inhabitants ). There are also 109 villages ( Köy ) with an average of 170 inhabitants. The population ranges from 982 to 21 ( Teşvikiye ). Sırören (928), Kızılcaören (910) and Demirciören (771 pop .) Are the largest villages. 37 villages have 170 or more inhabitants. The district is the front runner of all 13 districts in Kütahya Province in terms of population, area and population density .

criticism
The marriage brochure with the title “ Marriage and Family Life” published by the local administration caused a national sensation. The tips given in the brochure, e.g. B. for violence against disobedient wives, are criticized as outrageous and misogynistic.
