The Kütahya-Zafer Airport ( Turkish Zafer Bölgesel Havalimanı ) is the first Turkish regional airport between the cities of Kütahya , Afyonkarahisar and Uşak . It is operated by the private IC İçtaş Holding. The airport can be reached by taxi, private car or airport bus

history

Under the motto "An airport every 100 kilometers", the Turkish government has been building or having airports built in Turkey for several years. Since neither the provinces of Kütahya nor Afyonkarahisar had an airport, planning began here in 2010. The airport is to be built in Kütahya on the border with Afyonkarahisar and Uşak , making it the first "regional airport".

The foundation stone was laid on April 22, 2011. The airport was built within 18 months according to the build-operate-transfer principle . The cost is estimated at 155 million Turkish Lira. After the opening took place on November 25, 2012, the operating company will operate the airport until 2044.

Airport grounds

The airport has a terminal with a capacity of 2,000,000 passengers per year on an area of 17,600 m 2 , a control tower and an active paved runway equipped with an instrument flight landing system (ILS). The apron has a size of 240 × 150 meters and can handle three medium-haul aircraft per hour. There is a parking lot in front of the terminal. The airport was one of the first handicapped accessible airports in Turkey. In addition, it has been a "Green Airport" since 2015, which indicates that the airport is energy efficient and environmentally friendly.
