The Elazig airport ( Turkish Elazig Havalimanı ) is a Turkish airport in the interior near the eponymous town of Elazig . In 1938 the construction of a military airport began and it was completed between 1940 and 1942. In 1960 the airport was opened for civil aviation . With the growth of air traffic, the airport has been expanded and modernized in recent years. Elazığ Airport has been open to foreign flights since 2009.
