The Bursa-Yenişehir Airport ( Turkish Bursa Yenişehir Havalimanı ) is a Turkish airport of the city of Bursa in Yenişehir . It is operated by the state DHMI . It serves the city of Bursa, about 45 kilometers away, and the airport itself is in Yenişehir , Yenişehir means something like New City .

Airport grounds

The airport was opened for business in 2000 and has mixed civil and military uses. It has a terminal equipped with a VIP lounge, restaurants and a medical station with a capacity of 1,500,000 passengers per year and two paved runways, one of which only serves as a taxiway . The runway is equipped with an instrument flight landing system (ILS). The central apron can accommodate seven commercial aircraft. There is also a building for cargo handling and numerous military facilities such as hangars. The airport can be reached by taxi, private car or airport bus. There is a parking lot for 160 cars in front of the terminal.

Turkish Airlines flew to its old home airport, Istanbul-Ataturk, until April 2019 . From 2010 to 2011, Lufthansa operated the airport three times a week from its base in Munich.

MNG Airlines plans to open a base at the airport. Together with BTSO Lojistik A.Ş., a large logistics company in Bursa, they want to fly goods such as fruit and vegetables, textiles and automobiles directly abroad by plane. On April 3, 2019, the first cargo flight from Bursa to Moscow was carried out with an Airbus A300-600RF.
