Matthew Shija

Matthew Shija (born April 17, 1924 in Puge , Tabora , Tanganyika ; † December 9, 2015 ) was a Tanzanian clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Kahama .

Life

Matthew Shija was ordained a priest on January 17, 1954 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him on November 11, 1983 first bishop of the diocese of Kahama, established on the same date . The Archbishop of Dar es Salaam Laurean Cardinal Rugambwa donated him episcopal ordination on February 26 of the next year ; Co- consecrators were Alphonse Daniel Nsabi , Bishop of Kigoma , and Castor Sekwa , Bishop of Shinyanga .

On April 24, 2001, Pope John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation.
