The Roman Catholic Diocese of Shinyanga ( Latin Dioecesis Shinyangaënsis , Swahili Jimbo la Katoliki Shinyanga ) is in Tanzania situated Roman Catholic diocese based in Shinyanga .

history

The Shinyanga diocese was established on June 24, 1950 as a result of the division of the Apostolic Vicariate Musoma-Maswa as the Apostolic Vicariate Maswa .

On March 25, 1953 the Apostolic Vicariate Maswa was by Pope Pius XII. with the Apostolic Constitution Quemadmodum ad Nos raised to the diocese and subordinated to the Archdiocese of Tabora as a suffragan . The Diocese of Maswa was renamed on August 9, 1956 in the Diocese of Shinyanga . On November 18, 1987, the Shinyanga diocese was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Mwanza as a suffragan.
