The Erzbistum Tabora ( lat. : Archidioecesis Taboraensis ) is an in Tanzania preferred Roman Catholic Archdiocese based in Tabora .

history

The Archdiocese of Tabora was on January 11, 1887 by Pope Leo XIII. Established from the cession of territory by the Apostolic Vicariate Tanganyika as Apostolic Vicariate Unianyembé . The Apostolic Vicariate Unianyembé changed its name on May 31, 1925 to Apostolic Vicariate Tabora . On April 8, 1929, the Apostolic Vicariate Tabora gave parts of its territory to the establishment of the Apostolic Vicariate Bukoba .

On March 25, 1953, the Apostolic Vicariate Tabora was by Pope Pius XII. raised to the archbishopric. The Archdiocese of Tabora gave up on March 25, 1972 parts of its territory to establish the Diocese of Singida . Another cession took place on November 11, 1983 to establish the diocese of Kahama .
