history

The diocese of Arusha was on March 1, 1963 by Pope John XXIII. Erected from cession of the Diocese of Moshi and subordinated to the Archdiocese of Dar es Salaam as a suffragan . On March 16, 1999, the diocese of Arusha was raised to an archbishopric by Pope John Paul II .
