The Erzbistum Dodoma ( lat. : Dioecesis Dodomaensis ) is an in Tanzania preferred Roman Catholic Archdiocese based in Dodoma .

history

The diocese of Dodoma was on January 28, 1935 by Pope Pius XI. Established with the Apostolic Constitution Romani Pontificis from cessions of territory from the Apostolic Vicariates Bagamoyo and Kilimanjaro and the Apostolic Prefecture Iringa as Apostolic Prefecture Dodoma . On April 14, 1943, the Apostolic Prefecture of Dodoma gave parts of its territory to establish the Apostolic Prefecture of Mbulu . The Apostolic Prefecture Dodoma was founded on May 10, 1951 by Pope Pius XII. With the Apostolic Constitution in Tanganyikensi raised to the Apostolic Vicariate.

On March 25, 1953, the Vicariate Apostolic Dodoma by Pius XII. raised to the diocese and subordinated to the archdiocese of Dar es Salaam as a suffragan . The diocese of Dodoma gave on March 25, 1972 parts of its territory to establish the diocese Singida . Another assignment of territory took place on March 12, 2011 to establish the Kondoa diocese .

On November 6, 2014, Pope Francis raised the diocese of Dodoma to the rank of metropolitan seat and subordinated the dioceses of Kondoa and Singida as suffragan dioceses to the archdiocese.
