The Bistum Moshi ( lat. : Dioecesis Moshiensis ) is an in Tanzania preferred Roman Catholic diocese based in Moshi .

history

The diocese of Moshi was established on September 13, 1910 by Pope Pius X from cession of territory of the Apostolic Vicariate Bagamoyo as Apostolic Vicariate Kilimanjaro . On January 28, 1935, the Vicariate Apostolic Kilimanjaro gave parts of its territory to the establishment of the Apostolic Prefecture Dodoma . Further assignments were made on April 14, 1943 to establish the Apostolic Prefecture of Mbulu and on April 18, 1950 to establish the Apostolic Prefecture of Tanga .

On March 25, 1953, the Apostolic Vicariate Kilimanjaro was by Pope Pius XII. raised to the diocese and renamed the diocese of Moshi . The Diocese of Moshi gave on March 1, 1963 parts of its territory to establish the Diocese of Arusha . Another assignment of territory took place on December 10, 1963 to establish the Apostolic Prefecture Same .

The Diocese of Moshi is subordinate to the Archdiocese of Arusha as a suffragan .
