Joseph James Byrne

Joseph James Byrne CSSp (born April 27, 1880 in Clonmel , Ireland ; † October 20, 1961 ) was an Irish religious and Roman Catholic bishop of Moshi .

Life

Joseph James Byrne joined the Congregation of the Holy Ghost in and received on 19 December 1903, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

On November 29, 1932, Pope Pius XI appointed him . the titular bishop of Vasada and Apostolic Vicar of Kilimanjaro. The Archbishop of Cashel , John Mary Harty , donated him episcopal ordination on March 20, 1933 ; Co- consecrators were the Coadjutor Bishop of Cloyne , James J. Roche , and the Superior General of Spiritaner, Bishop Louis Le Hunsec CSSp.

Joseph James Byrne became the first bishop of Moshi on March 25, 1953 as a result of the elevation of the Vicariate Apostolic of Kilimanjaro to the diocese and its renaming. On May 15, 1959, Pope John XXIII. the resignation put forward by Byrne and appointed him titular bishop of Abaradira .
