Sudhir Vyas

Sudhir Vyas (* 1953 ) is an Indian diplomat .

Life

He graduated from the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur in 1975 with a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering and entered the Indian diplomatic service in 1977. First assignments abroad took him to Egypt and Algeria . For his efforts in the Arab world he had Arabic learned. This was followed by a job in Kathmandu in Nepal . From 1991 to 1992 he was a member of the Indian delegation to the United Nations Security Council in New York City . In 1993 he became deputy head of the Indian mission in Dar es Salaam in Tanzania and then in Islamabad in Pakistan .

In 2003 he became Indian Ambassador to Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates until he went to Thimphu in Bhutan as Ambassador in 2005 . In May 2009 he became ambassador to Germany . He held the office until 2011.

In 2013 he was appointed State Secretary in the Indian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He then retired but was appointed to the Board of Directors of the Center for Escalation of Peace (CEP).

Sudhir Vyas is interested in questions of nature conservation and is privately particularly interested in ornithology .
