The Bistum Morogoro ( lat. : Dioecesis Morogoroensis ) is an in Tanzania preferred Roman Catholic diocese based in Morogoro .
history
The diocese of Morogoro was established on May 11, 1906 by Pope Pius X from cession of territory from the Apostolic Vicariate of North Zanzibar as the Apostolic Vicariate of Central Zanzibar . On December 21, 1906, the Apostolic Vicariate of Central Zanzibar was renamed the Apostolic Vicariate Bagamoyo . The Apostolic Vicariate Bagamoyo gave up on September 13, 1910 parts of its territory to establish the Apostolic Vicariate Kilimanjaro . Another cession took place on January 28, 1935 to establish the Apostolic Prefecture of Dodoma .
On March 25, 1953, the Apostolic Vicariate Bagamoyo by Pope Pius XII. with the Apostolic Constitution Quemadmodum ad Nos raised to the diocese and renamed the Diocese of Morogoro . It was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Dar es Salaam as a suffragan .
