Johann Gruber (born January 21, 1833 in Rastatt ; † December 21, 1909 in Karlsruhe ; Catholic) was a lawyer who had been in the Baden civil service since 1859 and was retired on August 15, 1904.

Johann Gruber was the son of master tailor Johann Gruber and his wife Margarethe, née Wittmann († 1854). His first marriage was on April 1, 1866, Maria Anna, née Metzger (* February 28, 1844), daughter of the privateer Rudolf Metzger from Freiburg . From this marriage there were two children: Karl Theodor (born February 24, 1867 in Buchen ) and Johanna Maria Anna (born December 17, 1869 in Buchen). His second marriage was on June 1, 1901, Salome, née Laut (* May 7, 1877 in Kronau ; † October 20, 1940), the daughter of the farmer Johann Philipp Laut. His daughter Hilda Margarethe Katharina (born August 24, 1903) comes from this marriage.

Gruber attended the high school in Rastatt from 1842 , where he passed the Abitur in 1851 . From the winter semester of 1851/52 to the autumn of 1855 he studied law at the University of Heidelberg . After the first state examination in 1855 he was employed as a trainee at the Rastatt district office from February 15, 1856 , and then at the Emmendingen district office from March 25, 1856 . On May 24, 1857, he became an actuary in the justice office at the Ettlingen district office and also from September 3, 1857 at the Rastatt district court . On November 12, 1859, he passed the second state examination.

career

On November 21, 1859, Gruber began his traineeship at the Rastatt district court and on June 8, 1860, he began working as an actuary at the local district office. As an official he served from December 23, 1861 at the Wolfach district office , in the same position from July 8, 1862 at the Überlingen district office . On July 20, 1864, Gruber began his service as a bailiff at the Freiburg District Office . From December 28, 1864 , he worked as a clerk at the Gengenbach district office and from February 12, 1866, he worked as a clerk at the Bruchsal district office .

In the position of chief magistrate, Gruber served in the following district offices: from October 8, 1866 at the Buchen district office , from April 13, 1871 at the Kenzingen district office , from April 6, 1872 at the Ettenheim district office , from May 8, 1878 at the Achern district office , from October 25, 1883 at the Durlach district office and from January 27, 1886 at the Ettlingen district office . There Gruber was appointed a secret councilor on April 24, 1889 . On June 4, 1890, he started work as a collegiate member of the Verwaltungshof in Karlsruhe and was there on March 6, 1903 Chairman of the Council appointed. On August 15, 1904, Gruber was also appointed to the Secret Upper Government Council and retired.
