The Bistum Rulenge-Ngara ( latin Dioecesis Rulengensis-Ngarensis , Swahili Jimbo Katoliki la Rulenge-Ngara ) is an in Tanzania preferred Roman Catholic diocese based in Rulenge .

history

The diocese Rulenge-Ngara was founded on April 8, 1929 by Pope Pius XI. Established with the Apostolic Constitution Ad fidem catholicam from assignments of territory by the Apostolic Vicariates Tabora and Uganda as the Apostolic Vicariate of Bukoba .

On March 25, 1953 the Apostolic Vicariate Bukoba was by Pope Pius XII. with the Apostolic Constitution Quemadmodum ad Nos raised to the diocese and subordinated to the Archdiocese of Tabora as a suffragan . The diocese of Bukoba was renamed on June 21, 1960 in the diocese of Rulenge . On November 18, 1987, the Diocese of Rulenge was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Mwanza as a suffragan. The Rulenge diocese gave up on August 14, 2008 parts of its territory to establish the Kayanga diocese . On August 14, 2008, the Rulenge Diocese was renamed the Rulenge-Ngara Diocese .
