The airport was opened in 1993 and is used exclusively for civil purposes. It has a terminal with a capacity of 150,000 passengers a year and a paved runway that does not have an instrument flight landing system (ILS).

The city of Sinop assigned to him is about 8 kilometers away. It can be reached by taxi, minibus or private car via the D-010 trunk road. There is parking for 20 cars in front of the terminal.
